With the global pandemic of covid-19 everyone, including small business owners, are forced to close up shop and completely move their businesses online. Some of these small businesses depend on their brick and mortar locations for most of their sales, and some only depend on their b&m locations because that’s all they’ve got.
Like many small businesses, the owners depend on their business to support their livelihood which leaves a substantial amount of people fearful for the future of their business.
Luckily, there are ways you can still support your local fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands without leaving your bed.
Purchase a gift certificate:
This is a season of what would have been very eventful with graduations, weddings, and prom. Although there’s no celebration you can still give someone a gift card or certificate to do a little retail therapy to ease the pain of missing out on these milestones.
Most small businesses have an online store for you to shop from whether it’s a website or an Instagram shop. You can purchase items online for your spring and summer wardrobe and get ready to step out when all of the craziness passes. Some hairstylists have bundles, wigs, and hair care products for sale so check in with them. Also, nail technicians may have press on nail kits available for you to try home as well.
Check with the local businesses you frequently shop with:
They may have altered their services to fit the temporary ‘new normal’. For example, your local cleaners now may provide a disinfecting service. Or they may have curbside and same day delivery pickup available.
Start an online contest / drawing for local business gift cards and services:
Give a little and purchase a gift card from your favorite local boutiques and have a social media contest and maybe come up a few followers in the process!
Ask them to do a virtual one-on-one tutorial and pay them the amount you would if they completed their normal service.
